PROPOSED
VSUMC 3 YEAR COMPREHENSIVE PLAN
1.  Focus on core values of
worshiping, learning and serving.

Jesus says we are here to serve; not be served. The expectation is that our congregation will be responsible for calling in the nursing homes and on shut-ins, developing and practicing prayer and serving in outreach ministries to our community.

We will emphasize mission and outreach as central to who we are not a peripheral area. Commit 10% of our budget to missions and 10% to program/new program development.

2. Strengthen Worship

We will strengthen worship by focusing our resources on (a) maintaining a family and visitor friendly traditional service, and (b) producing a top-notch family and visitor friendly contemporary service in the Sanctuary with a strong upbeat character and content. In between services, we will provide a time of hospitality in the parlor for all members of the church and visitors, regardless of which service they attend.

3. Develop Faith Formation

Develop a vital and dynamic comprehensive Christian education program for children and adults that is both engaging and strengthening of our spiritual journey.

4. Radically re-vision our building space

The development of a highly visible and easily accessible christian education space will require a new look at how we use the building space available to us. With the development of a new christian education program we should also look at our building space as if we are moving into it for the first time. Currently our children’s ministry is all over the building which makes direction giving difficult at best.
